Item 8: Miscellaneous <br />a). Election: Election of new Chair and Vice Chair. <br />Substitute Assistant City Attorney Grossman invited nominations for Planning Co-nmission <br />Chair. <br />Commissioner Ponder took a moment to extend gratitude to Tom Dlugosh for his long year of <br />service and strong leadership, noting that the Planning Commission has been well-served under <br />his guidance. He nominated Commissioner Collier as Chair, saying, "I am very proud to do so." <br />Commissioner Brannan seconded Ms. Collier's nomination. <br />With no other nominations made, Mr. Grossman took a roll call vote. <br />Motion for Esther Collier to serve as Planning Commission Chair <br />Brannan/Abero; 6 Aye; 0 No; 1 Abstention (Collier) <br />Approved <br />Mr. Cross-nan invited nominations for Vice Chair. <br />Commissioner Brannan nominated Denise Abero as Vice Chair. <br />Commissioner Collier seconded the nomination. <br />With no other nominations made, Mr. Grossman conducted a roll call vote. <br />Motion for Denise Abero to serve as Planning Commission Vice Clzair <br />Brannan/Collier; 6 Aye; 0 No; 1 Abstention (Abero) <br />Approved <br />Item 9: Commissioners' Comments <br />Commissioner Abero thanked Secretary Livermore for ensuring that all Commissioners could <br />attend this meeting. <br />Commissioner Reed added his thanks to Tom Dlugosh for his service as Chair. <br />Item 10: Staff Updates/Project Status Report <br />Secretary Livermore thanked Commissioners for making themselves available for this Special <br />Meeting, adding that there will be a similar circumstance in April, when a Special Meeting will <br />be held on the fourth Thursday (April 22) in lieu of the Regular Meeting on the third Thursday <br />(April 15). The Kaiser Permanente Medical Center item is on the agenda. She also indicated that <br />for budgetary reasa~s, the City has extended "golden handshake" offers to people in certain <br />positions, including hers as Planning Manager. She has decided to accept the offer and will be <br />leaving June 15. She also said that Community Development Director Luke Sims is working on <br />some good ideas that he will announce soon. <br />
