LPA for AC Transit BRT 9 May 17, 2010 <br />The LPA process will come to the end with the following process: <br />• The Planning Commission's review of the proposed LPA and specifically the termination <br />option and the use of dedicated lanes, public comment and recommendation of an LPA to <br />the City Council <br />• The City Council will review the work to date and make a decision on an LPA. This <br />final LPA would be sent to AC Transit by April 2010 for study in the FEIS/R. <br />The impacts related to the revisions should be analyzed prior to any final decision on the final <br />design being made by the City Council. The impact to cars as they try to cross East 14th Street <br />from side streets should be addressed along with the issues described earlier in this staff report. <br />The City Council will need to clearly understand its options with or without BRT prior to <br />deciding on a final design for San Leandro, and this information should be provided in the <br />FEIS/R. <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />On July 02, 2007, by Minute Order No. 2007-069, the City Council directed Staff to prepare a <br />letter for the Mayor to reply to AC Transit indicating the City of San Leandro LPA is either <br />Alternative 2 or Alternative 4. <br />City Council Committee Review and Action <br />• June 27, 2007 -Facilities and Transportation Committee: Recommendation for City Council <br />to direct Staff to prepare a letter for the Mayor to reply to AC Transit indicating the City of <br />San Leandro's LPA is either Alternative 2 or Alternative 4 as described in the DEIS/R <br />• June 09, 2008 -Work Session: Bus Tour Along East 14th Street and Bus Rapid Transit <br />Workshop for information only <br />• January 13, 2009 -Facilities and Transportation Committee: Update of the BRT project for <br />information only <br />• December 08, 2009 -Facilities and Transportation Committee: Update of the AC Transit <br />Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) for information only <br />• February 09, 2010 -Facilities and Transportation Committee: Presentation regarding AC <br />Transit Bus Rapid Transit providing review of Planning Commission material for <br />information only <br />• March 08, 2010 -Work Session: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Locally Preferred Alternative <br />presentation for information only <br />Applicable General Plan Policy <br />• General Plan Goal 15 -Ensure that public transportation is safe, convenient and affordable <br />and provides a viable alternative to driving <br />• Policy 15.01 Coordination with service providers <br />• Policy 15.02 Integration of Schedules <br />• Policy 15.05 Passenger Amenities <br />• Policy 15.06 Barrier-Free Transit <br />
