Location in park could be improved <br />In 1997, City selected a standardization design plan and has replaced <br />or added facilities on a regular basis <br />Park restrooms built or replaced: Halcyon, Chabot, Bonaire, Floresta and <br />Marina (2) <br />o Toyon Park Project Goals <br />■ Meet the needs of the park users and neighborhood <br />■ Comply with ADA requirements <br />■ Simplify/lower maintenance <br />■ Mirror the intent of the established prototype design used in other parks <br />■ Lower overall cost and construction impacts <br />o Pre -Manufactured Structures <br />■ Staff reviewed designs and installations of several companies that <br />manufacture restrooms for public parks <br />■ Staff recommends the use of Public Restroom Company to fabricate <br />and install the structure at Toyon Park <br />o Proposed Restroom <br />■ Sized similar to existing building <br />■ Storage for park maintenance staff and bocce equipment <br />■ The appearance will blend into the park <br />■ Meets all ADA standards <br />■ Building is masonry block with graffiti coating <br />■ Fixtures are stainless steel with mechanical equipment in a separate <br />access area (similar to City prototype) <br />■ Natural ventilation <br />■ Building is prefabricated in a factory and shipped to site lowering building costs <br />■ Less disruption in the park <br />■ Savings of 30% to 40% expected over conventional construction <br />o Location Options <br />■ Locate replacement restroom in same general area as existing restroom <br />■ Relocate restroom closer to the parking lot/street <br />o Next Steps <br />■ Discussion with park users to determine restroom location <br />■ Request Council approval of a sole source purchase from <br />Public Restroom Company <br />■ Completion of the demolition and site work plan <br />■ Purchase of the restroom building <br />■ Bid, award and execution of the site improvement construction <br />■ Restroom installation <br />
