CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />City Councilmembers report on their activities, including attendance at Intergovernmental <br />Agency meetings, conferences and seminars, and local events, and make brief announcements <br />on issues of concern. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Reed reported that she was a <br />California Commission on the Status of Women. She was <br />also the keynote speaker at the Lincoln High School graduation. She attended the Shoreline <br />Development Citizens Advisory Committee meeting, and met with Dan Dillman of the Bal <br />Theatre regarding use of the theater for community purposes. Vice Mayor Reed commented <br />on the letters from Assumption School students, urging the Council to keep the History <br />Museum open. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak attended the League of California Cities East Bay Division <br />meeting at Paradiso, and received a presentation on pension reform. She commented on the <br /> initiative on the November ballot to protect local government funding. <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported on funding offered through the Alameda County <br />Congestion Management Agency (ACCMA) that may allow some busy streets in San <br />Leandro to be repaved, and provide support for Safe Routes to School. She attended the San <br />Leandro High School graduation at Cal State University East Bay. <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola attended the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District meeting; <br />the Chamber of Commerce mixer at BUMPERDOC; the Flag Day ceremony; the Chamber of <br />Commerce Government Affairs Committee meeting; the Police promotion ceremony; the <br />Shoreline Development Citizens Advisory Committee meeting; and the John Muir and <br />Bancroft Middle School graduations. Councilmember Prola reported that he met with <br />Assemblymember Hayashi regarding the state takeaways <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephens attended the North Area Home and Garden Tour, and encouraged <br />everyone to att <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza attended the Alameda County Fire Commission meeting, and received <br />a presentation on apping of the Neighborhood She announced that on July 1, Union <br />change of command to Alameda County Fire Department. <br />Councilmember Souza commented on a statewide initiative campaign to ban Styrofoam and <br />plastic bags, and mentioned that stoplight cycles in some areas seem longer than before. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory attended his first ACTIA Work Program Committee meeting; <br />Alameda County Supervisor Gail Steeleretirement luncheon hosted by the League of <br />Women Voters; and a World Cup match shown at the Englander. Councilmember Gregory <br />various health initiatives such as First Ladies, the <br />50 Million Pound Challenge, the greenway under the BART tracks, the Climate Action Plan, <br />and the ongoing bicycle and pedestrian planning, into a health element in the General Plan. <br /> <br />
