Fuld cut-off light fixtures minimise <br />glare, direct light to where it is <br />needed. <br />trian navigation and recognition <br />from the street without creating <br />overlit areas with excessive glare. <br />Light sources should be energy <br />efficient, and easy to maintain with <br />good color rendition. Some accept- <br />able sources include: metal halide, <br />high pressure sodium, and compact <br />fluorescent. Low pressure sodium <br />light sources provide poor color ren- <br />dition and should be avoided. Atten- <br />tion should be paid to matching and <br />coordinating light sources for color <br />and intensity within zones, along <br />streets, or at special focal areas. <br />The Illumination Engineering <br />Society (TES) provides guidelines on <br />appropriate lighting levels for pub- <br />lic spaces. 'T'hese guidelines may be <br />useful in evaluating existing and pro- <br />posed lighting schemes. <br /> <br />Not recommended.
