Fuld cut-off light fixtures minimise
glare, direct light to where it is
needed.
trian navigation and recognition
from the street without creating
overlit areas with excessive glare.
Light sources should be energy
efficient, and easy to maintain with
good color rendition. Some accept-
able sources include: metal halide,
high pressure sodium, and compact
fluorescent. Low pressure sodium
light sources provide poor color ren-
dition and should be avoided. Atten-
tion should be paid to matching and
coordinating light sources for color
and intensity within zones, along
streets, or at special focal areas.
The Illumination Engineering
Society (TES) provides guidelines on
appropriate lighting levels for pub-
lic spaces. 'T'hese guidelines may be
useful in evaluating existing and pro-
posed lighting schemes.

Not recommended.
