COPS IN SCHOOLS GRANT <br />RETENTION PLAN <br />The City of San Leandro and the San Leandro Police Department are committed <br />to providing a safe and secure environment for the schools in our jurisdiction. We will <br />continue to collaborate with the San Leandro Unified School District, the San Lorenzo <br />Unified School District, parents and students through the School Resource Officer <br />Program. This program was established in 1990, and currently there are two School <br />Resource Officers assigned to the schools in our jurisdiction. <br />The United States Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing <br />Services COPS in Schools Grant provides funding in the amount of $125,000.00 for three <br />years. These monies will be used for an additional School Resource Officer position. <br />The City of San Leandro understands the requirement of this grant as well as the <br />importance of continuing this position beyond the three years of grant funding.
