Consolidated Plan Annual Performance Report - FY 2000-2001 City of San Leandro Page 16 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (Non-Housing) NEEDS Priority: Neighborhood Revitalization Resources Used: The City applied CDBG and Redevelopment Agency funds toward neighborhood revitalization and economic development programs. Activities Undertaken: The City concentrated its neighborhood revitalization efforts in the redevelopment project areas and the low- to moderate-income areas. Activities undertaken addressed economic development and elimination of slums and blight. CDBG funds were used to oversee the existing Small Business Loan Program, to implement the Commercial Design Assistance, the MacArthur Commercial Facade Program, and the Airport Gateway survey. The Commercial Design Assistance and MacArthur Facade Renovation programs assisted 6 businesses located in the target areas with conceptual design grants ranging from $2,000 to $3,500. Four of the businesses in the West San Leandro/MacArthurBlud. Redevelopment Project Area will receive CDBG and/or Redevelopment Agency low- interest loans for facade renovation to implement the conceptual architectural design. The Garden Center Rehabilitation and Manor/Farnsworth projects carried over from past fiscal years are out to bid and expected to go under construction in spring of 2002. The Airport Gateway survey has been completed and construction is expected to begin in Spring of 2002.
