Hollister City Manager RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR THE ANNUAL SIDEWALK PROGRAM 2009-10, PROJECT NO.09-144-36-006. This project provided for removal and replacement of damaged concrete sidewalk, driveway approaches, curbs, and gutters throughout the city. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and upon completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one-year Maintenance Period, hereby authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject project. BACKGROUND Property owners are required by both the State Highway Code and San Leandro Municipal Code to maintain the sidewalks along their frontage. The City operates a sidewalk repair program, described in Title 8 of the San Leandro Administrative Code, which provides for the repair of sidewalk damage. Minor defects are ground or patched at no (direct) charge to property owners. Larger defects that require removal and replacement of the concrete are also repaired under the program but the property owner adjacent to such a defect must reimburse the City for the full construction cost unless a street tree is the cause of damage. Property owners are only responsible to pay for'/2 the construction cost for damage caused by a street tree. Analysis This contract replaced damaged improvements identified through the sidewalk .program at approximately 202 locations around the city. The work included replacement of approximately 1,600 linear feet of damaged curb and gutter, 11,200 square feet of damaged sidewalk, 2,900 square feet of damaged driveway approaches, and minor amounts of other concrete-related work.
