Each independent inspection and testing agency engaged on the Project shall be authorized by <br />authorities having jurisdiction to operate in the State of California. <br />1.07 INSPECTION SCHEDULE <br />A. The Contractor shall contact responsible parties forty-eight (4S) hours prior to commencement of work on items <br />listed in attached Testing, Inspection £~ Reporting Schedule, (Page 4-7). <br />1.08 REPAIR AND PROTECTION <br />A. Llpon completion of inspection, testing, sample taking and similar services, repair damaged construction and <br />restore finishes to eliminate deficiencies, including deficiencies in visual qualities of exposed finishes. Comply <br />with Contract Document requirements for "Cutting and Patching". Protect construction exposed by or for <br />quality control service activities, and protect repaired construciion. Repair and protection is the Contractor's <br />responsibility, regazdless of the assignment of responsibility for inspection, testing or similar services. <br />2.00 PRODUCTS <br />2.01 ~ INITIAL SERVICES <br />A. The Owner will pay for initial testing services requested by the Owner. <br />B. When initial tests indicate non-compliance with the Contract Documents, the costs of initial tests associated <br />with that non-compliance will be deducted by the Owner from the Contract Sum. <br />C. Retesiing: When initial tests indicate non-compliance with the Contract Documents, retesting shall be required <br />until compliance is achieved and shall be performed by the same testing agency. The costs of retesting will be <br />deducted by the Owner from the Contract Sum <br />2.02 CODE COMPLIANCE TESTING <br />A. All required inspections and testing shall be preformed by the City's testing agency. The City shall pay all costs <br />associated with these inspections and tests (re-testing and re-inspections due to failure excluded.) These shall <br />include: <br />1. All requirements stated in '98 California Building Code, Title 24, Part I, Chapter 4, Article 2 and Article 3 <br />and aI1 appendices (attached) and as outlined in the Testing; Inspection F~ Reporting Schedule (attached). <br />2. Concrete slump tests for all conaete pours. <br />3. On-site and off-site steel welding. <br />2.03 CONTRACTOR'S CONVENIENCE TESTING <br />A. Inspecting and testing performed exclusively for the Contractor's convenience shall be the sole responsibility of <br />the Contractor. <br />2.04 WSPECTION BY OWNER'S PERSONNEL <br />A. From time to time, personnel in the employ of the Owner may inspect the Work where the Work is in progress, <br />but shall have no authority to direct the Contractor or request changes in the Work except through the Owner's <br />Representative. <br />3.00 EXECUTION <br />3.01 COOPERATION WITH TESTING LABORATORY <br />A. Representatives of the testing laboratory shall have access to the Work at all times. Provide facilities for such <br />access in order that the laboratory may properly perform its functions. <br />3.02 TAIQNG SPECIMENS <br />A. Specimens and samples for testing, unless otherwise provided in the Contract Documents, will be taken by the <br />testing personnel. Sampling equipment and personnel will be provided by the testing laboratory. Deliveries of <br />specimens and samples to the testing laboratory will be performed by the testing laboratory. <br />3.03 SCHEDULES FOR TESTING <br />A. Establishing the Schedule: <br />1. By advance discussion with the testing laboratory selected by the Owner, determine the time required for <br />the laboratory to perform its tests and to issue each of its findings. <br />2. Provide required time within the Construction Schedule. <br />B.
