Each independent inspection and testing agency engaged on the Project shall be authorized by authorities having jurisdiction to operate in the State of California. 1.07 INSPECTION SCHEDULE A. The Contractor shall contact responsible parties forty-eight (4S) hours prior to commencement of work on items listed in attached Testing, Inspection £~ Reporting Schedule, (Page 4-7). 1.08 REPAIR AND PROTECTION A. Llpon completion of inspection, testing, sample taking and similar services, repair damaged construction and restore finishes to eliminate deficiencies, including deficiencies in visual qualities of exposed finishes. Comply with Contract Document requirements for "Cutting and Patching". Protect construction exposed by or for quality control service activities, and protect repaired construciion. Repair and protection is the Contractor's responsibility, regazdless of the assignment of responsibility for inspection, testing or similar services. 2.00 PRODUCTS 2.01 ~ INITIAL SERVICES A. The Owner will pay for initial testing services requested by the Owner. B. When initial tests indicate non-compliance with the Contract Documents, the costs of initial tests associated with that non-compliance will be deducted by the Owner from the Contract Sum. C. Retesiing: When initial tests indicate non-compliance with the Contract Documents, retesting shall be required until compliance is achieved and shall be performed by the same testing agency. The costs of retesting will be deducted by the Owner from the Contract Sum 2.02 CODE COMPLIANCE TESTING A. All required inspections and testing shall be preformed by the City's testing agency. The City shall pay all costs associated with these inspections and tests (re-testing and re-inspections due to failure excluded.) These shall include: 1. All requirements stated in '98 California Building Code, Title 24, Part I, Chapter 4, Article 2 and Article 3 and aI1 appendices (attached) and as outlined in the Testing; Inspection F~ Reporting Schedule (attached). 2. Concrete slump tests for all conaete pours. 3. On-site and off-site steel welding. 2.03 CONTRACTOR'S CONVENIENCE TESTING A. Inspecting and testing performed exclusively for the Contractor's convenience shall be the sole responsibility of the Contractor. 2.04 WSPECTION BY OWNER'S PERSONNEL A. From time to time, personnel in the employ of the Owner may inspect the Work where the Work is in progress, but shall have no authority to direct the Contractor or request changes in the Work except through the Owner's Representative. 3.00 EXECUTION 3.01 COOPERATION WITH TESTING LABORATORY A. Representatives of the testing laboratory shall have access to the Work at all times. Provide facilities for such access in order that the laboratory may properly perform its functions. 3.02 TAIQNG SPECIMENS A. Specimens and samples for testing, unless otherwise provided in the Contract Documents, will be taken by the testing personnel. Sampling equipment and personnel will be provided by the testing laboratory. Deliveries of specimens and samples to the testing laboratory will be performed by the testing laboratory. 3.03 SCHEDULES FOR TESTING A. Establishing the Schedule: 1. By advance discussion with the testing laboratory selected by the Owner, determine the time required for the laboratory to perform its tests and to issue each of its findings. 2. Provide required time within the Construction Schedule. B. Revising the Schedule: When changes of Construction Schedule are necessary during construction, coordinate such changes of Schedule with the testing laboratory as required.
