Criteria {Total Score Possible 100 Points)
The scoring for project selection will be weighted most heavily in favor of the projects that effectively
demonstrate: completion of spine trail gaps; extension of spine trail as opposed to spur or connector;
maximum trail miles completed (not necessarily one long project, two or more smaller projects may
qualify); Class I trails: cooperative partnerships; strong leverage; regional need; readiness to begin
construction; employment of local or CCC where possible: and community support. Larger projects, whose
total cost may exceed the amount available, may apply in phases where one phase may be ready to construct
sooner than the others. Projects will be evaluated by the Regional Development Program Selection
Committee using the following criteria:
1. Critical Bay Trail Link (35 Points Possible):
a. What is the length of the Bay Trail segment the project will complete?
900 feet (600 feet of bicycle path and a 300-foot bridge across the slough)
b. Does this project close a gap fully linking two existing spine segments of the Bay Trail?
Yes, it will complete the MLK to Oyster Bay Trail and provide an uninterrupted bicycle
facility to the San Mateo Bridge.
San Francisco Bay Trail Project
Regional Development Program
1999 Grant Application
Page 9
