Resolution Nominating and Appointing Members to the Youth <br /> Advisory Commission - Clayton Evans, District 1; Melcher Fabi, <br /> District 3; Michael Austin, District 5; Elita Cheung, District 5; <br /> Jeffrey Shu, District 5; Stephanie Andres, At Large (District 1); <br /> and Karianne Wolfer, At Large (District 1). <br /> Kenton Jang, Youth Advisory Commission Secretary, said the new <br /> Commissioners represent seven different high schools and noted <br /> that some of them are siblings of former Commissioners. <br /> The following Resolution was then introduced. <br /> Resolution No. 96 -5, Resolution Nominating and Appointing Members <br /> to the Youth Advisory Commission - Clayton Evans, District 1; <br /> Melcher Fabi, District 3; Michael Austin, District 5; Elita <br /> Cheung, District 5; Jeffrey Shu, District 5; Stephanie Andres, At <br /> Large (District 1); and Karianne Wolfer, At Large (District <br /> 1). (2680) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Perry, who moved its adoption, <br /> seconded by Council Member Loeffler, and carried by a majority <br /> vote (7). <br /> The new Commissioners introduced themselves and were administered <br /> the Oath of Office by the City Clerk. Mayor Corbett <br /> congratulated the Commissioners and thanked them for volunteering <br /> to serve on the Commission. <br /> B. Matter of "Mobilehome Fairness and Rental Assistance Initiative." <br /> Vice Mayor Kerr said the Mission Bay Mobilehome Park tenants <br /> requested that the City Council oppose Initiative 199 on the <br /> March ballot. He said San Leandro, which does not have rent <br /> control, is not really affected by the Initiative, but it phases <br /> out various local rent - control laws and limits the ability of <br /> local governments to regulate such matters. <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> Minute Order No. 96 -2, Matter of "Mobilehome Fairness and Rental <br /> Assistance Initiative." (1123) <br /> On motion by Council Member Kerr, who moved its approval, <br /> seconded by Council Member Perry, and carried by a majority vote <br /> (7), the City Council voted to oppose "Initiative 199, Limits on <br /> Mobilehome Rent Control, Low- Income Rental Assistance <br /> Initiative." The Council expressed concern that the Initiative <br /> would limit local governments' authority to regulate mobilehome <br /> rent and other issues. <br />
