Council Member Polvorosa requested that the City Manager report on the <br /> possibility of creating a committee to investigate relocating the Manor <br /> Branch Library. He suggested the committee consist of the Bonaire, <br /> Floresta, and Washington Manor Homeowners' Associations, Library and <br /> Youth Advisory Commissioners, and representatives of the School <br /> District. There was consensus of the City Council to refer this matter <br /> to the City Council City Facilities Subcommittee. <br /> Council Member Polvorosa requested that the meeting be closed in honor <br /> of the recent retirees from the Maintenance Division of the City, in <br /> recognition of their many years of dedicated service to the community. <br /> D. Council Member Perry said she was one of 15 people who met with <br /> President Clinton and Vice President Gore on "Net Day." She thanked <br /> all the parents who participated in San Leandro and said Roosevelt <br /> School and San Leandro High School were wired, with volunteer help and <br /> materials. <br /> Council Member Perry congratulated the new Council Members and said the <br /> outgoing members will be available as a resource. <br /> E. Council Member Galvan said the City Council team came within one <br /> question of winning the Trivia Bee. He said they enjoyed <br /> participating. <br /> Council Member Galvan congratulated the new Council Members on their <br /> victories and recognized everyone who participated in the election. <br /> Council Member Galvan thanked the City Clerk's Office for conducting <br /> the City election. <br /> F. Mayor Corbett thanked everyone involved in the election and said the <br /> community participated in an open and free process. <br /> Mayor Corbett noted the Washington Manor Junior League and the Bobby <br /> Sox kickoffs. She said the Bobby Sox league was truly touched by the <br /> City Council's participation in recognizing them and reaching into <br /> their own pockets to help raise funds. She said the parade was a <br /> wonderful event and thanked those who volunteer to work with our <br /> children. <br /> Mayor Corbett said San Leandro High School has won the statewide Decca <br /> competition and will compete nationally in Florida. She said she would <br /> like to recognize them at a Council meeting; the City Council <br /> concurred. <br /> Mayor Corbett thanked the City Clerk's Office for conducting the <br /> General Municipal Election and thanked the City Clerk for her work with <br /> the candidates. <br />
