CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Galvan, Glaze, Lothrop, Polvorosa, Young; <br /> Mayor Corbett <br /> ABSENT /EXCUSED: Council Member Loeffler <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. Commendation for 103 - Year -Old San Leandro Resident, Ermina Oberti, <br /> Acknowledging Her 103 Years and Recognizing Her as a Long -Time San <br /> Leandro Resident. <br /> Mayor Corbett read the Commendation and presented it to Mrs. Oberti's <br /> son -in -law, Bill Glass. Vice Mayor Polvorosa said the Commendation is <br /> richly deserved. He reflected on his family's and the Oberti's farm <br /> and the rich tradition of agriculture. Mr. Glass accepted the <br /> Commendation and said Mrs. Oberti's family is proud to receive it and <br /> enthusiastic to know that the City Council cares about the elderly. <br /> B. Presentation of City of San Leandro's Check for Membership in "Friends <br /> of San Leandro Creek." <br /> Mayor Corbett presented the City's check to Rick Richards, President of <br /> Friends of San Leandro Creek. Mr. Richards thanked the City Council <br /> and discussed activities of Friends. <br /> C. Presentation to Celebrate the Re- Opening of the Farmers' Market. <br /> Doug Hayden, Manager and Director of the California Farmers' Market <br /> Association, commended City staff for doing a fabulous job. He said <br /> many fun things will be happening at the Market, there will be more <br /> vendors, and the Market will operate concurrently with the Cherry <br /> Festival. He presented a basket of fruit to the City Council. <br /> D. Proclamation Declaring May 20 -24, 1996, as Leadership San Leandro Week. <br /> Mayor Corbett read the Proclamation and presented it to Dr. Jack <br /> Goodrich, who was instrumental in bringing the program to San Leandro. <br /> Dr. Goodrich said the 16 participants feel the program had an impact on <br /> their lives and will have an impact on their experiences in the <br /> community. He thanked the City Council on behalf of the steering <br /> committee and the participants. <br />
