CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS
A. Council Member Galvan commended Dave Bohne and staff for the Cherry
Festival.
He requested that the East Bay Dischargers Authority/ Livermore Amador
Valley Water Management Agency matter be placed on the June 17th agenda
for discussion. He noted a Daily Review article saying Oro Loma
Sanitary District rates are 30 -40% lower than City rates, and he asked
for a report.
B. Council Member Young also commended staff for the Cherry Festival and
said she was impressed with staff's ability to put together such a
large event. She said she wished to thank the people who had provided
the cars the Council rode in during the parade.
C. Vice Mayor Polvorosa said it was a great parade, festival and farmers
market. He felt it was the best Cherry Festival in the last 10 years.
D. Council Member Glaze spoke regarding contracting out services and said
the City should perhaps have a master agreement for someone who does
more than one contact. The City Manager said this issue should be
discussed at length and explained that the issue on Parrott Street is
one of timing. Mayor Corbett asked if the Council wished to look into
the matter. The Council concurred. The Mayor noted they should
discuss the need for specialists for some services and the cost -
effectiveness of hiring contractors vs. using employees. Council
Member Galvan said the City should also look into the possibility of
forming a relationship with other cities, such as sharing the cost of
staff.
