PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG 3. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Council Members Galvan, Glaze, Loeffler, Lothrop, Polvorosa, Young; Mayor Corbett ABSENT: All Present 4. PRESENTATIONS A. Commendation to Olga S. Frey for her receipt of the Liberty Bell Award and for her many years of dedicated service. Mayor Corbett said Mrs. Frey was unable to attend the meeting, so the Commendation would be presented another time. B. Commendation to Martin Babinec in recognition of being named Service Entrepreneur of the Year by the San Jose and Silicon Valley Business Journal. Mayor Corbett said she was very excited to commend him. He has been growing his business, Trinet, in San Leandro and raising his family here. He was recognized as Service Entrepreneur of the Year and also recently mentioned in the Wall Street Journal and is bringing great honor to the City of San Leandro. She read the Commendation. Mr. Babinec said he recognizes the role the City played in keeping his business in San Leandro. C. Presentation of Outstanding Public Service Award to City of San Leandro from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for San Leandro's Disaster Preparedness Program and Residential Strengthening Program. Mayor Corbett said she will be sharing the award with the community. She said very few of these awards are given. Mr. DeWitt, the Director of FEMA, recognized the City of San Leandro for its Disaster Preparedness Program, home strengthening, RACES group, and active citizenry. The award states that it is given in recognition of outstanding commitment to mitigation which is unmatched in this nation. It recognizes not just creativity on staff's part and leadership on the Council's part, but more importantly, the community's involvement.
