• Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 9 -
Redevelopment Agency Meeting - August 5, 1996
Mira needed after the earthquake. I know that the Alta Mira's have
worked very hard and have worried about how they were going to handle
that building. I personally, feel it is a wonderful place for the
women of San Leandro and the good they do. I thank you.
4.6 Joel DeWitt, 1458 - 138th Avenue: I worked with Alice, she has a
professional attitude and dignity, and I spent a lot of time with
this woman and she makes running for office almost worthwhile. It
was a pleasure from the first time I met Alice. I wish you the very
best.
4.7 Kenneth Hamner, 14601 Washington Avenue: I also am a City employee,
an engineering inspector. We are in our fifth year, and we are not
going to get a raise. The cost of living has gone up, and we haven't
gotten anything in five years. I got the courage to come up tonight.
I wanted to thank Alice. When I first started here she helped me
type up my application.
4.8 Carrie Walker, 471 Santa Monica, Mission Bay Mobilehome Owners
Association. Alice, I want to thank you for being so nice over the
years. The green lights coming on here looked real nice, do you
think we could get it to look like that for rent control.
Council Member Galvan: You are upset because 90% of your mobilehome
park residents voted for the agreement. I am telling you there is
nothing in the agreement that violates state law.
Mr. Walker: You told me it was done wrong, they had the vote there
before we had it to read. It was all done wrong. On that ballot,
where was the no.
Council Member Polvorosa: Have you ever heard of the process of
voting? Did you ever attend those meetings?
Mr. Walker: Yes, three.
Council Member Polvorosa: At those meetings they negotiated.
Mr. Walker: Why did you not have a meeting?
Council Member Polvorosa: We did not negotiate that contract. The
residents voted for it -- every one of those people.
Mayor Corbett: This has gone too far. You will have the opportunity
to address this at another time. There were three meetings. No one
ever refused to have meetings.
