Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 8 -
Redevelopment Agency Meeting - August 5, 1996
4. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited
to make any comments related to Agenda items, or other items of public
interest, at this time.
4.1 Larry Norry, 2532 Williams Street, said he has attended several
Council meetings in the past and has disagreed with the comments.
Today I listened to 25 minutes of the ramblings. Alice Calvert has
been a real asset and will be missed. I will miss you.
Under Item 5.7 is an item regarding diagonal parking on Parrott
Street. Al Rosenga made comments, I hope his comments have been
incorporated in this.
Council Member Galvan: I received a letter from Al Rosenga outlining
his concerns about this issue. It was also sent to staff. I'm sure
they have been reviewed by staff.
4.2 Lee Ness, 2321 Belvedere Avenue, said Larry took some of my thunder.
Alice, I am going to miss you very much. I really appreciate all
your help. I will miss you and the City will miss you. I almost
called City of Livermore and told them you weren't coming.
4.3 Glen Hilton, 867 Pershing. Alice, again, I wish to reiterate what
has been said. You have always been so kind and thank you.
Alice Calvert: Thank you, please give my best to Bea.
Glen Hilton: I have been in touch with Al Rosenga and he is doing
well. I tried to attend a meeting which hadn't been set up, and I
discussed the matters that had been brought up so you can feel
assured all is well.
4.4 Lyn Velow, Vice Commodore for Spinnaker Yacht Club, spoke regarding
Item 5.4 on the Consent Calendar, the proposed amendment to lease.
I want to publicly thank John Jermanis and his staff for the help
that they have been to us in negotiating the terms of this extension.
I would like to assure you that the Club will do anything it can to
help -- federal, state or otherwise, to get at least selective
dredging for the continued viability of the marina. We need to
figure some way to get some of that sediment out of there.
Mayor Corbett: Thank you, the dredge funding is moving through the
process in Congress very positively. It cleared the full house and
will go to the President's desk in September. We are hopeful that it
will make it past that last hurdle.
4.5 Ellen Geiss: I was a member of the Alta Mira Club from the 60's to
90's. Other things took up my time and I dropped the club. I think
it is wonderful giving a grant to the Alta Mira, a national historic
site in San Leandro. I am also a member of the Historical Society.
It is wonderful for the City to help keep our historical spots in
tact. When I first found out the damage and assessment that Alta
