Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 8 - Redevelopment Agency Meeting - August 19, 1996 4.49 Eric Gorovitz, Legal Community Against Violence, said he had expertise in gun issues, supports the ordinances, offered to provide legal services to the City Attorney for any lawsuits, and noted the difference between State and local gun regulations. 4.50 Kae McGuire, 922 Rodney Drive, supports the ordinances, has been working on this issue for over three years and believes this is a first step, and noted that other cities are also adopting gun ordinances. 4.51 Maria Theresa Viramontes, Executive Director of East Bay Public Safety Partnership, reviewed the organization's goals to work in crime prevention and noted the importance of a regional strategy to reduce gun violence. 4.52 Rick and Pam Richards, 335 Peralta Drive, submitted a note of their support for the ordinances. The Mayor thanked the audience for a cooperative Public Comment period. 5. CONSENT CALENDAR Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered for approval by the City Council with one single action.
