Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 3 -
Redevelopment Agency Meeting - September 3, 1996
4.3 Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly Drive, said he opposes the Renaissance
Conference Center and the financial impact. He cited the Oakland
Coliseum financial situation and quoted statements from the Daily
Review. He said he feels this is potentially the same situation. He
asked why private financing could not be obtained. He said the Mayor
had received funds from the developer. He asked the Mayor not to
make any decision and not to get involved.
Mayor Corbett noted that while she has received donations from
various organizations and individuals throughout the community, it
has not affected her ability to lead or to make decisions.
4.4 Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, said the funds are taxpayers'
funds and not the City's funds. He asked where the money is coming
from to fund the cottage industries. He said they keep adding police
officers, and the City cannot get out of debt; he suggested that
funds go to pay off the debt. He commented on private funding and
equity partnerships and believes there is plenty of private funds to
dedicate to San Leandro.
Mayor Corbett presented Sheila Young, outgoing Board of Zoning Adjustments
Member, a Commendation for her work and dedication to the community.
5.
