Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 14 - <br /> Redevelopment Agency Meeting - October 7, 1996 <br /> 4.11 Audrey Albers, does not support a flashing neon sign at the Auto <br /> Mall. She said the Council had stated this would not impact the <br /> area. She also commented on the outdated City Council Agenda showing <br /> on the Cable announcements. Interim City Manager Wandzia Grycz <br /> reported on the process and said staff is diligently working on the <br /> issue with the station. She said she appreciated the comments and <br /> concerns and that she will continue to work on the issue. <br /> 4.12 Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly Drive, commented on the ice rink and said <br /> the adopted budget included funding for this activity. He said <br /> $90,000 would not "break the budget." He asked if salary savings <br /> could be used for the rink. He commented on community pride and <br /> improvements, as noted in the budget document, and said the ice rink <br /> is part of this concept. He cited several items in the budget. He <br /> said the DBA should not pay for the activity. He suggested the rink <br /> could be located elsewhere, such as the Peterson Property across from <br /> City Hall or the old Corp Yard site. He also offered to talk to the <br /> owner of Traders regarding a donation to the ice rink. <br /> 4.13 Larry Norry, 2532 Williams Street, asked if Item 6.10.1 was part of <br /> the sports complex property. He asked if the City was paying for the <br /> sign. He said Loard's Ice Cream was not notified. <br /> Interim City Manager Wandzia Grycz asked staff to respond. <br /> Redevelopment Administrator Debbie Potter confirmed that staff had <br /> met with Loard's Ice Cream representative last week. <br /> 4.14 Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, commented on his experience with <br /> installing wells and dealing with well water. He said there was a <br /> connection between the ice rink and taxpayers' money. He said the <br /> firearms tax should go to a vote of the people. He urged them not to <br /> reconsider the ice rink. He said anyone donating funds to the ice <br /> rink should be aware of insurance issues. <br /> 5. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered <br /> for approval by the City Council with one single action. The City Council <br /> may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion. <br /> Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title. <br /> Item 5.11 was removed from the Consent Calendar to New Business. The <br /> remaining items on the Consent Calendar were approved as follows: <br /> M /S /C Polvorosa and Loeffler. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> 5.1 Minutes of the Meeting of August 5, 1996.
