CALL TO ORDER <br /> 1.1 Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br /> 1.2 Roll Call <br /> PRESENT: Members Galvan, Glaze, Loeffler, Lothrop, Polvorosa, Young; <br /> Mayor Corbett <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 2. PRESENTATIONS <br /> 2.1 Presentation by Ray Arenott on Behalf of the San Leandro Rotary Club <br /> of a Check for $1,000 for Senior Adult Programs. [Smith] <br /> Mr. Ray Arenott introduced himself as the representative for the <br /> Rotary Club. He said the Club has been very active this past year. <br /> He cited the Carpe Diem event that raised $130,000 to paint San <br /> Leandro High School; he also noted the Hole In One event that raised <br /> funds for the Davis Street RotoCare Clinic. He said the Rotary Club <br /> is proud to donate a $1,000 check this evening for senior citizen <br /> programs. <br /> Mayor Corbett and Vice Mayor Polvorosa accepted the check and assured <br /> Mr. Arenott the funds would be used for a good cause. On behalf of <br /> the City Council, Mayor Corbett thanked Mr. Arenott and the Rotary <br /> Club for their generosity and commitment to the community. <br /> 3. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> 3.1 Matter of CU- 96 -16; Conditional Use; for a Conference Center Facility <br /> with Overnight Accommodations, Including 55,332 Sq. Ft. for <br /> Conference Space, a 3,500- Sq. -Ft. Restaurant, and 200 Rooms; 30 San <br /> Leandro Marina; Assessor's Parcel No. 79A- 475 -9 -3; Network Conference <br /> Company (Jeff Davenport); CR Commercial Recreation District. (1098) <br /> This being the time and place for the Public Hearing on the above <br /> matter, Planning Manager Steve Emslie presented the staff report. <br /> Mr. Emslie stated that the purpose of the Hearing was to address the <br /> Appeal of the Board of Zoning Adjustments' decision pertaining to the <br /> land use permit for the proposed Conference Center at the Marina. He <br /> emphasized that the only matter before the Council was the land use <br /> permit; he said the use is in compliance with the zoning. He <br /> referenced the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and noted that no <br /> environmental impacts had been determined as a result of the proposed <br /> Conference Center.
