CALL TO ORDER <br /> 1.1 Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br /> 1.2 Roll Call <br /> PRESENT: Members Galvan, Glaze, Loeffler, Lothrop, Polvorosa, Young; <br /> Mayor Corbett <br /> ABSENT: All Present <br /> 2. PRESENTATIONS <br /> 2.1 Commendations for Arroyo High School Junior Varsity Football Team, <br /> 1st Place in the Hayward Area Athletic League. <br /> Mayor Corbett asked Council Member Glaze to assist with the <br /> presentation to the Arroyo High School Junior Varsity Football Team <br /> for receiving first place in Division. She said that the Council is <br /> commending the team as 1996 Hayward Area Athletic League Champions <br /> and said they are our own "local heroes." The team and coaches came <br /> forward to receive Certificates of Commendation. Mayor Corbett noted <br /> in attendance and support were Barbara Sidari, San Lorenzo School <br /> Board; Janice Duran, San Lorenzo School District Superintendent; <br /> Ginita Paseley, Arroyo High School Principal; and Carol Evans, Arroyo <br /> High School Vice Principal. Council Member Glaze said the team was <br /> undefeated and had outscored opponents 268 to 51 points. Mayor <br /> Corbett acknowledged the coaches, parents, families, and friends who <br /> support the team members. The Mayor was presented a team shirt. <br /> Council Member Glaze invited everyone to a reception in the Trustee's <br /> Room following the presentations. He also noted, for members of the <br /> press in attendance, that the City is comprised of two school <br /> districts serving its youth. He said we should be proud of both <br /> districts; they deserve a great amount of recognition. He urged them <br /> to include all of San Leandro's youths in the papers. He also noted <br /> that, within the football team, 80% of the players had maintained a <br /> 3.5 or higher grade -point average. The coach noted that they had fun <br /> and were good students and players. <br />
