Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 20 - <br /> Redevelopment Agency Meeting - November 18, 1996 <br /> 8.2 Reports on City Council Subcommittees <br /> None <br /> 8.3 City Council Comments <br /> 8.3.1 Interim City Manager Wandzia Grycz announced that the <br /> Facilities Committee recommends that the Council meetings move <br /> back to the City Hall Chambers beginning with the December 2, <br /> 1996, City Council meeting. <br /> 8.3.2 Council Member Young said she had attended a rousing planning <br /> meeting of the Chamber of Commerce. She also served as a <br /> judge for San Leandro High School Spirit Week; she attended <br /> the Big Game and was excited to see SLHS win. She also <br /> attended and enjoyed the South Branch Library Open House on <br /> Saturday. <br /> 8.3.3 Council Member Glaze noted recommendations from the Fire <br /> Commission and placement of the speed humps. He reminded the <br /> Council that funds were donated in honor of the Steve <br /> Marinkovich bench. He asked that some of the metal halide <br /> lights be moved into a trial area to see if people like the <br /> difference. He said people seem to like the City Hall lights. <br /> Mayor Corbett suggested the proposal be referred to the <br /> Finance Committee. Council directed staff to look into the <br /> matter and make a recommendation on a trial area. Council <br /> concurred. <br /> 8.3.4 Mayor Corbett thanked Council Member Glaze for the Arroyo High <br /> School football celebration and congratulated him on his son's <br /> success Council Member Glaze thanked the Council for their <br /> continued support to the schools. <br /> 8.3.5 Council Member Loeffler said he attended the Veteran's Day <br /> Ceremony and was disappointed in the low attendance and would <br /> like to see more publicity. He asked staff to send thanks to <br /> Martin Francis for his assistance with the event. <br /> Council Member Loeffler attended the mid -year planning event <br /> with the Chamber of Commerce and noted that the press did not <br /> attend the event. <br /> Council Member Loeffler noted the upcoming Miracle on East <br /> 14th Street event, sponsored by the Downtown Business <br /> Association. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said many people have contacted him <br /> regarding the East 14th Street median and the lack of <br /> crosswalks. He asked that staff look into the issue of the <br /> crosswalks. He suggested posting a sign in the middle of the <br /> median. <br />
