Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 8 -
Redevelopment Agency Meeting - December 2, 1996
Council Member Young reminded the Council of the team - building
process, as had been earlier suggested and planned. She urged
that the process be rescheduled.
Council Member Galvan said the interim staff is doing a
terrific job, and he is very pleased. He said staff has very
clearly heard the Council's requests for information. He said
the Council has no control over the papers. He said the
Council needs to be forthright with information.
Mayor Corbett commented on the memo that was sent out to
Council prior to her trip to Japan; she added that she will be
reviewing the trip at the December Work Session.
Council Member Lothrop noted the huge Library Retrofit Project
coming up and wants the Council to be very involved. She said
that, in her opinion, politicking was occurring. She said a
Council Member had gone to Traders with information. She
askid Council Member Galvan to comment. Council Member Galvan
stated that it was not true.
Council Member Glaze noted his concern that a member of the
public came forward with information of which the Council was
not aware. He said it implied information was leaked.
Mayor Corbett asked Council Member Galvan if he had seen an
invoice and spoken with Traders. Council Member Galvan
answered no. He said the big picture is the waste of
taxpayers' money. Council Member Glaze stated that Council
Member Galvan had previously said he had seen a receipt and
asked if this was true. Council Member Galvan stated he does
not have receipts and that anyone could view the office
furnishings and make an estimate.
Mayor Corbett stated to Council Member Galvan that information
should be brought to the Council in the future. She said she
would like staff to come back with an accurate report.
Council Member Loeffler noted that information should go to
all Council Members, even if it has been requested by only one
Member.
8.3.4 Council Member Galvan announced that former Council Member
Ed Suchmann recently had a mild heart attack and is at home.
Mayor Corbett noted that a card will be sent.
