IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2010- <br /> RESOLUTION ADOPTING CITYWIDE INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT POLICY <br /> RECITALS <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Policy is to ensure <br /> that all City operations and their contracted services that manage pests or vegetation on City <br /> property do so in an environmentally sensitive manner while addressing public health, safety, <br /> economic and aesthetics requirements; and <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of the City's IPM Policy is to ensure that the City reduces and <br /> eliminates the use of pesticide products that pose known, likely, or probable human health or <br /> environmental risks; promotes the use of non - hazardous and/or reduced risk alternatives that <br /> benefit human health and the environment, including incorporation of Bay Friendly Landscaping <br /> Guidelines when feasible; applies pesticides in a manner that protects and enhances our region's <br /> natural resources and public health; maintains a leadership role in developing both ecologically <br /> sensitive and aesthetically pleasing landscapes and structures; and practices a consistent standard <br /> of environmental stewardship by departments managing structures, landscapes, and other grounds. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br /> follows: <br /> That the attached Citywide integrated Pest Management Policy is hereby adopted. <br /> Recognizing that pest management is an on -going and evolving discipline, this policy shall be <br /> subject to change and other updating modifications as needed to reflect new laws, information, <br /> techniques, equipment and materials. <br /> Introduced by Councilmember and passed and adopted this 7` day of <br /> September, 2010, by the following called vote: <br /> Members of the Council: <br /> AYES: <br /> NOES: <br /> ABSENT: <br /> ATTEST: <br /> Marian Handa, City Clerk <br />
