Hollister, City Manager <br /> FROM: Uche Udemezue, Director <br /> Engineering and Transportation Department <br /> BY: Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer <br /> Engineering and Transportation Department <br /> SUBJECT PROJECT /PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br /> RESOLUTION OF ACCEPTANCE OF WORK FOR THE TOYON PARK PLAYGROUND <br /> SITEWORK, PROJECT NO. 10- 150 -62 -109. <br /> SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and authorizing <br /> the City Manager to release the maintenance bonds for the subject project upon successful <br /> completion of the one -year maintenance period. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The East Bay Regional Park District (District) approved the use of Measure WW grant funds at <br /> the Toyon Park Playground. The \VW funding will be used to construct site improvements, <br /> including concrete curb installation, storm drainage modifications, and improvements to meet <br /> ADA requirements. The playground equipment and installation will be funded by the non - profit <br /> organization KaBOOM! <br /> Council agreed to partner with KABOOM!, who will install the equipment at Toyon Park as one <br /> of its community designed, privately sponsored, and community built playgrounds. KaBOOM! <br /> held a Design Day public meeting on July 22, 2010. At the meeting, the final playground <br /> fixtures were selected. On Build Day (September 18, 2010) KABOOM! and its volunteer <br /> construction members will install the playground equipment and safety surfacing. <br /> Analysis <br /> On July 6, 2010 the City Council awarded the construction contract for the subject project to Jim <br /> Freethy Excavating, Inc. Construction is now complete and is in compliance with the contract <br /> documents. This project included the necessary site work preparation for the installation of the <br /> playground equipment by KaBOOM! The project consisted of concrete curb, storm drainage <br />
