Toyon Park Playground Sitework <br /> Acceptance of work 2 September 7, 2010 <br /> modifications, and general improvements in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act <br /> (ADA) requirements. <br /> Current Citv Council Police <br /> To upgrade City parks and park play equipment to comply with ADA and Consumer Product <br /> Safety Commission (CPSC) requirements. <br /> Previous Citv Council Action(s) <br /> • On April 19, 2010, by Resolution 2010 -055, the City authorized the City Manager to sign a <br /> Letter of Intent for KaBOOM! stating that if a site within the City was selected, the City will <br /> have reviewed the Draft Community Partner Agreement and will be prepared to sign the final <br /> Community Partner Agreement <br /> • On May 3. 2010, by Resolution 2010 -052, the City Council authorized the City Manager to <br /> approve plans and call for bids on the subject project <br /> • On July 7. 2010, by Resolution 2010 -089, the City Council awarded a construction contract <br /> to Jim Freethy Construction, Inc. for the subject project. <br /> Applicable General Plan Policy <br /> Conforms with General Plan Goal 21.01, which encourages both renovation and ADA upgrades <br /> of City parks. <br /> Environmental Review <br /> A California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption for the project was filed with <br /> Alameda County on March 26, 2010, pursuant to Section 15302. <br /> Code Compliance Review <br /> Work complied with all applicable building codes. <br /> Board/ Commission Findings <br /> The Recreation and Parks Commission was informed of the KaBOOM! playground application <br /> at its April 7, 2010 meeting. <br /> Summary of Public Outreach Efforts <br /> The KaBOOM! design process required that a local non -profit partner with the City to raise <br /> funds for the project, outreach to the community, bring in volunteers and provide co- chairs for <br /> the many planning committees. The City received support from the local Rotary Club for this <br /> project. As part of the Design Day on July 22, 2010, a community workshop was held to solicit <br /> input from the community that formed the basis for the selection of the playground equipment. <br />
