• <br /> Strategic Plan — FY 2000 -FY 2004 <br /> City of San Leandro <br /> Page 20 of 35 <br /> Objectives <br /> Continue to support emergency shelter and transitional housing programs for homeless people and <br /> people at risk of becoming homeless. Activities will be funded using CDBG, HOME and <br /> Redevelopment Housing Set -Aside funds. <br /> Accomplishments <br /> San Leandro Shelter for Women and Children <br /> • Continue to contribute CDBG funds toward operation and facility improvement costs of the San <br /> Leandro Shelter. The shelter will provide approximately 10,000 bednights to 245 low- income <br /> households per year over the next five -year period. <br /> Davis Street Family Resource Center <br /> • Continue to provide operational funds to the Davis Street Community Center which provides <br /> childcare, emergency food, clothing, medical care and other services to families and individuals in <br /> need. In 1999, the City provided CDBG funds for property acquisition for the construction of a new <br /> one stop center that will be called the Davis Street Family Resource Center. The City will continue <br /> to contribute CDBG funds toward the development and construction phase of the project. The Davis <br /> Street Family Resource Center will assist approximately 500 households annually. <br /> Transitional Housing Program /Allied Housing, Inc. <br /> • Provide funding for the construction and operation of a new 28 -unit transitional and supportive housing <br /> project to serve the affordable housing, health and social service needs of homeless and disabled families <br /> and individuals in the Mid - and Southern Alameda County. It is anticipated that this project will be <br /> completed within the next two years. CDBG, HOME and Redevelopment Set -Aside funds could be <br /> used for this project. The City will support similar projects based on need and fund availability. <br /> Other Homeless Service Agencies and Programs <br /> • Continue to support a variety of homeless service providers and resources in the Southern Alameda <br /> County area. Examples of programs which the City may assist with operational costs, capital <br /> projects, membership fees and letters of support are as follows: SAVE Transitional Housing of <br /> Hayward, Emergency Shelter Program (ESP) of Hayward, Human Outreach Shelter of Hayward, <br /> Emergency Services Network (ESN) and Family Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO). <br /> Approximately 50 extremely low- income households will be assisted during the five -year period. <br />
