Each <br /> of us has a range of service needs, such as childcare, health care, and advice about financial matters and <br /> educational opportunities. People with adequate resources are able to purchase these services in the <br /> community. Those who lack these resources benefit from affordable housing with services which can <br /> help stabilize individuals and families and also serve as a community base through which services can be <br /> provided. <br /> Objectives <br /> Continue to support agencies that provide services to persons with special needs. Specific programs <br /> include funding for the Allied Housing transitional housing project which will provide housing and <br /> support services for households with disabilities including mental illness, substance abuse disorders <br /> and /or HIV /AIDS- related illnesses. <br /> Accomplishments <br /> Transitional Housing Program /Allied Housing, Inc. <br /> • Provide funding for the construction and operation of a new 28 unit transitional and supportive housing <br /> project for homeless and disabled families and individuals in the Mid- and Southern Alameda County. <br /> This facility will provide housing and support services for households with disabilities including mental <br /> illness, substance abuse disorders and /or HIV /AIDs- related illnesses. It is anticipated that this project <br /> will be completed within the next two years. CDBG, HOME and Redevelopment Set -Aside funds could <br /> be used for this project. The City will support similar projects based on need and fund availability. <br /> ABHOW Senior Facility <br /> • Completion of an affordable senior housing facility which will create 26 low- and /or very low - <br /> income units. This project will be funded using Redevelopment Set -Aside funds, Section 108 loan, a <br /> Section 202 loan and private funds. It is anticipated that this project will be completed within two <br /> years. <br /> Support of Other Housing /Service Enriched Opportunities for Persons with Special Needs <br /> • Continue to use CDBG funds to support a variety of service - enriched housing opportunities for <br /> persons with special needs. • <br /> • <br />
