Strategic Plan — FY 2000 -FY 2004 City of San Leandro Page 29 of 35 Accomplishments The City anticipates funding the following types of projects: • Continue the Commercial Design Assistance Program which provides architectural and technical assistance to property owners and tenants of businesses located in target revitalization areas. The City targets approximately 10 businesses per year. (Funding: CDBG) • Blight elimination through the Housing Rehabilitation Program for low- and moderate - income households. It is anticipated that the Housing Rehabilitation Program will assist approximately 55 total households per year. (Funding: CDBG) • Blight elimination through the Commercial Facade Program which will provide assistance to approximately three businesses per year. (Funding: CDBG) • Enhance economic vitality through the Neighborhood Shopping Center Revitalization Program. It is anticipated that two eligible shopping centers will receive revitalization assistance. (Funding: CDBG, Redevelopment) • Continue activities that coordinate with the Oakland /San Leandro Joint Revitalization Project. CDBG is currently funding Oakland Airport gateway improvements. It is anticipated that CDBG will fund further Oakland Airport gateway improvements and at least two other revitalization projects. (Funding: CDBG, Redevelopment, special grant funds) • The City will continue to provide oversight of existing small business loans and will pursue other economic development activities such as business fairs, workshops and technical assistant. (Funding: CDBG) • The City will consider adopting a Neighborhood Strategy Area for the MacArthur Boulevard corridor to further enhance the City's revitalization strategy options. Geographic Distribution All neighborhood revitalization programs will be available in eligible areas throughout the City. The main focus of the revitalization efforts will be in the Redevelopment Project Areas and Oakland/San Leandro Joint Revitalization Project Area. •
