Summary of the Shoreline - Marina Process to Date
City Manager Hollister introduced Business Development Manager Battenberg who gave a
summary of the Shoreline - Marina process that has been on ongoing for approximately five years.
The Committee asked if any Shoreline CAC members have vacated their seats and if the vacated
seat should be filled with a new appointment. Staff replied there has been one seat vacated by a
member from the Youth Advisory Commission who went away to college. Staff recommended
that the vacant seat not be filled to ensure CAC continuity and due to how far the committee is in
the process. Manager Battenberg shared that persons interested in the shoreline development do
not need to be a member of the CAC to participate as the meetings are available to the public and
include a public comment period.
Discussion ensued about the openness and inclusiveness of the meetings regarding the shoreline
and marina. Town Hall meetings at the Main Library and the Marina Community Center, in
addition, to the Shoreline CAC and the Shoreline - Marina Committee meetings are good forums to
capture input from the general public's participation. Staff added that the City has received emails
from individuals regarding the Shoreline development and these individuals are added to the email
distribution list so they receive reminders of upcoming Shoreline CAC and Shoreline -Marina
Committee meetings.
