Moffatt & Nichol (M &N) performed services which included development of a Marina <br /> Complete Improvements plan, study of the feasibility of reducing shoaling and wave action within the <br /> Type and Location of Project Marina along with the environmental impacts associated with marina improvements, and <br /> development of dredging and pier removal plans and specifications. Specifically, M&N <br /> • Marina Improvements evaluated the environmental climate of the Marina, developed breakwater improvement <br /> , • Martinez. California alternatives to limit shoaling, conceptual deigns for breakwater repairs, entrance <br /> reconfiguat!on, and dredging elements of proposed improvements. <br /> Key Team Members <br /> The marina basin is shoaling al a substantial rate due to suspended sediments coming <br /> . • Dilip Trivedi from the Delta, whicn enter the basin and settle out In the quiescent harbor. Additional <br /> deposits occur because of the mixing of fresh water with Incoming tidal water, wind -driven <br /> Scope of Involvement waves, and low breakwater crest elevations to the east and northwest. M &N performed a <br /> • Master Planning numerical hydrodynamic modeling study that investigated the feasibility of reducing <br /> shoaling and wave action within the Marina by making structural modifications to the <br /> Financing Sources entrance of the existing timber -pile breakwater. Breakwater altematives were simulated, <br /> • City of Martinez including modeling of physical processes including waves, tides and sedimentation within <br /> Ole basin <br /> Public/Private Partnerships In support of the proposed Improvements, an Initial Study and Mitigated Negative <br /> • City of Martinez (Owner) _ Declaration were prepared along with funding applications to the Califomia Department of <br /> • Pacific Marina Development (Master Boating And Waterways. Funding from DBAW for long -term Improvements were <br /> Developer) subsequently obtained.
