bodies including tidal prism, channel geometry changes, flushing time, and potential for levee overtopping
and flooding of developments near South Bay salt ponds.
Benicia Waterfront Marsh Restoration, Benicia, CA USA. Prepared design documents for restoration
of an 8 -acre tidal marsh in an urban setting. The project involved preparing a grading plan with new
channels to increase the frequency of inundation of tidal waters. The grading plan was devised to
minimize the potential for transport of contaminants from specific areas. Also analyzed shoreline stability
to assess the optimum location for the new channel inlets.
Foster City Dredging /Sea Cloud Habitat Enhancement, City of Foster City, CA USA. Project
Manager for dredging design to remove 100,000 cu yds of sediment from the City lagoon. Project
included design for reuse of the sediment at Sea Cloud Park for habitat enhancement. This work
included new levees to contain the dredged material. Final grading and planting was done in accordance
with the Wetlands Mitigation Plan.
Brooklyn Basin Development, Oakland, CA USA. Managed the development of a Shoreline
Improvement and Seismic Retrofit Plan for the planning and permitting phase of the proposed 65 -acre
development project. Prepared preliminary design and permit applications for waterfront improvements
along 1 mile of the .project shoreline, including bulkheads around the marina, wetland development,
revetment structures, seismic retrofit of the Ninth Avenue Pier, and 2 marinas.
Bair Island Restoration Project, Redwood City, Ca Usa. Project Manager for the design and
preparation of bid documents for the restoration of the 1400 acre Bair Island site. The island is part of the
_Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge, which is the largest urban wildlife refuge in the United States. Prepared
design documents for restoration of the former salt ponds, using a combination of dredged material as
well as upland fill material to provide habitat for endangered clapper rails and salt marsh harvest mice.
The project involved designing levees, breaches, hydraulic control structures, dredged material disposal,
a pedestrian bridge, wildlife viewing platforms, and parking /restroom facilities. Coordinated with several
stakeholders including the local sanitation district, PG &E, Army Corps, and San Carlos Airport to obtain
approvals for the project.
Bel Marin Keys Unit V Wetlands Restoration, Novato, CA USA. Led the preparation of a Restoration
and Management Plan that defined land management practices and restoration scenarios to assist the
State, as land owners, to manage the site until such time that dredged material placement starts.
Managed a team of local experts for the interim planning and restoration of the 1,600 acre wetland
restoration project. Currently leading the construction document preparation for the levee construction.
Treasure Island Development, San Francisco, CA, USA. Prepared a coastal flooding study to estimate
the extent of flooding on Treasure Island resulting from tides, waves, tsunamis, and storm surges. The
work was performed to assist in establishing grades for the proposed development and the perimeter
protection. The study included developing several numerical models including wave generation and wave
transformation, and simulating a long term history of coincident high tides and waves, such that extreme
design events could be identified for FEMA review. One of the key work items was assessing the effects
of future Climate Change / Sea Level Rise and developing a management strategy to address the future
changes in water levels and storm intensity. Coordinated with several departments at the City of San
Francisco, and presently assisting the project proponents through the permitting and design phases.
San Pedro Creek Flood Control Project, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pacifica, CA USA. Prepared
design plans for a flood protection project along San Pedro Creek in the City of Pacifica. Conducted
numerical modeling to design hydraulic cross - sections and estimate crest elevations for the new levees
along both sides of the creek. The analysis involved using the HEC -RAS model to estimate water surface
elevations and velocities along a 1 -mile stretch of San Pedro Creek, and a bypass conduit to reduce
flooding of the homes along the creek. Coordinated with biologists and surveyors to develop a phased
construction document package.
South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, San Jose, CA USA. Served as the Flood Management
Consultant to the project owners (included local, state, and federal agencies) during the planning and
data acquisition phase of the restoration project. Conducted several task orders over a period of 2 years,
which helped in the planning aspects of the restoration project. Assessed potential interaction of the
restoration project with conveyance facilities (creeks, storm drains, lift stations) in the project area by
investigating historic flooding, channel geometry, and hydrology of the local watersheds. Provided an
analysis of available hydrodynamic, water quality, and sediment transport modeling tools and techniques
for the design and environmental review phases. Assessed Flood management requirements for the
