GUIDELINES REGARDING COUNCIL SUPPORT FOR <br /> OR OPPOSITION TO BALLOT MEASURES <br /> (suggested changes in italics) <br /> PURPOSE OF THE GUIDELINES: <br /> The purpose of these guidelines is to describe the City Council's policy regarding support <br /> for or opposition to ballot measures on local, state or national matters. <br /> GUIDELINES: <br /> The City Council as a group will not adopt a formal position in favor of or in opposition <br /> to ballot measures that have not been initiated by or sponsored by the City. If the City <br /> , -. .. .... .. unless <br /> such ballot measure has a direct benefit to or impact on a significant portion of the <br /> community of San Leandro or the City of San Leandro. <br /> Council Members requesting City Council support or opposition to a measure shall first <br /> receive consensus from the body to place said support or opposition on a future agenda <br /> for Council discussion and consideration. <br /> resolution because the City is not a "member" of the Mosquito Control District. <br /> However, if the City were to sponser a General Obligation Bond Issue to finance <br /> those measures. <br /> No public funds shall be used in any support for or opposition to any measure. <br /> Nothing in these Guidelines is intended to discourage or inhibit individual council <br /> members from expressing their individual support for or opposition to any ballot <br /> measure. <br />
