o East 14 Street Light Replacement
• Bringing to City Council in December for Call for Bids
• Construction early 2011 depending on PG &E
o Dog Park
• Estimate 4 to 5 months for BCDC to complete review of application
• Design is done in -house based on Parks and Recreation review
• Start of construction — Late Spring 2011
o Par Course Rehabilitation
• Regrade pathway to comply with ADA
• Replace and upgrade exercise stations
• Start of construction — Late Spring 2011
Mayor Santos stated that he had received a number of complaints regarding the work on
MacArthur and Estudillo. He stated that traffic has been backed up and that he called the
police department to control the traffic and ensure that controls were in place. Ken
explained that it is high impact, short terns project. The same work was done on Sybil
with virtually no complaints. There are few options to doing the process. Uche stated
that Ken's point is well taken but staff will look at ways to improve for next year.
2. Discussion Regarding ADA Transition Plan Update
Steve Hollister gave a brief overview of the ADA Transition Plan Update stating that it is
a 51.8 million project that will be spread over 15 years. Kathy Ornelas presented an
executive summary and explained the program. She stated that the program is funded
through WW, CDBG and General funds. At this point the ADA has not said that
agencies must update their transition plan. HUD has asked the City to do it. Kathy
explained that the list is extensive; however there are several items that can be done in-
house, and many that are already included in other City projects.
Discussion ensued. Mayor Santos stated that he would like to get Len Simon involved to
see if there is a possibility of getting a federal grant. He suggested that staff search for
funds and send a letter to legislators. Councilmember Souza commented that a lot of the
items, such as Toyon Park, are already on the agenda. Kathy stated that she would like to
take the item to the full City Council.
Committee Recommendations:
The ADA Transition Plan Update should be taken to the full City Council for approval.
3. Public Comments
None
