This resolution will initiate the public hearing process to establish a district on Eden <br /> Road from Doolittle Drive to Davis Street. <br /> Staff recommends approval of a resolution of intention calling for a public hearing to establish an <br /> Underground Utility District on Eden Road from Doolittle Drive to Davis Street. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Chapter 5 -3, Article 2 of the San Leandro Municipal Code sets forth a procedure for <br /> establishment of Underground Utility Districts. A public hearing must be held to ascertain <br /> whether the public necessity, health, safety, or welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead <br /> wires and associated overhead structures before a district may be established. if such a finding is <br /> made, then a resolution may be passed declaring the identified area as an underground utility <br /> district. <br /> The City currently has two active underground utility districts. Phase 1 of undergrounding work <br /> on East 14 Street from the southern City limits to 150` Avenue, a distance of about 2.600 linear <br />
