COMMISSION PROFILE <br /> Title of Commission: RENT REVIEW 13OARI) <br /> Description of Board Duties: <br /> The Board shall: <br /> a. hear and decide upon rent disputes as requested and submitted in writing <br /> to the City Manager according to Ordinance No. 2001 -08. <br /> b. After hearing both parties (landlord and renter), the Board will make a <br /> recommendation to the parties for the resolution of their dispute. <br /> c. If the resolution proposed is agreed upon by both parties, they may <br /> formalize the agreement in a standard form signed by both parties. <br /> Neither the City nor the Board shall be a party to such an agreement, <br /> nor shall the City of Board assume responsibility for enforcement of <br /> its terms. <br /> d. The matter may, if the parties are unable to mutually agree to a resolution, <br /> be referred to the City Council for further consideration. <br /> e. The Board shall annually prepare a report to the City Council assessing the <br /> effectiveness of the rent review program. <br /> M EMBERSHIP <br /> Five (5) members. Two (2) members of the Board shall be tenants, two (2) <br /> members shall be landlords, and one (1) member shall be neither a tenant nor a <br /> landlord.
