MINUTES Page 13
City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting — November 15, 2010
and San Leandro Democratic Club panel discussion. He reported that the Fire Department
had a dedication of new fire rescue boat named Big Jim 11. He commented that he was happy
to see all the Councilmembers at the Veterans Day ceremony, but was sad that there was no
parade this year. He announced a second town hall meeting on the boat harbor basin and
alternatives this Wednesday at the Marina Community Center, and encouraged attendees to
give alternatives and suggestions. Having been a lab analyst at East Bay Municipal Utility
District [EBMUD], Councilmember Prola expressed interest in being the City's EBDA
representative next year.
Vice Mayor Reed thanked staff, the Police and Fire Chiefs, and especially Deputy City
Manager Jacqui Diaz, for the work done on Measure Z. She thanked all the candidates for
participating in the election and congratulated Stephen Cassidy and Pauline Cutter. She
brought forth a communication between Rob Richie of FairVote and Mayor Santos for
clarification by the City Attorney regarding Ranked- Choice Voting [RCV] and any ambiguity
in the City Charter. City Attorney Jayne Williams indicated that the FairVote communication
gave an accurate analysis of the RCV process in San Leandro, and that the City Charter
comports with the ordinance adopted by the City Council setting forth the RCV process. Vice
Mayor Reed announced the Alameda County Housing Authority's Family Self Sufficiency
Dinner this Thursday at the San Leandro Library. She was also impressed with the attendance
of the Veterans Day ceremony. Vice Mayor Reed announced that she would adjourn
tonight's meeting in memory of Michael Steven Rocha, companion of Administrative
Assistant Mark Gueli in the City Manager's Office.
12. ADJOURN
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m. in memory Michael Steven Rocha.
RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED:
MARIAN FIANDA
City Clerk of the City of San Leandro
