E 14'" Striping & Pedestrian Improvement Award of Contract 4 January 18, 2011 • Policy 18.02 — Capital Improvements — Identify capital improvements and other measures that improve the safety of bicyclists, pedestrians, and motor vehicles on San Leandro streets • Policy 18.05 — Funding — Pursue grants for the improvement of pedestrian, bicycle, and motor vehicle safety • Policy 19.01 — Street and Building Design — Promote the design of streets and buildings that make San Leandro's streets more attractive and inviting for pedestrians, bicyclists, and public transit users. New development should promote the use of these modes of transportation by including amenities such as sidewalks, bike lockers, and bus shelters • Policy 20.05 — Coordination with Caltrans — Coordinate local transportation planning programs and improvement projects with Caltrans. Integrate the Caltrans' Tier 2 highway system into the local transportation system to the maximum extent feasible Environmental Review Through CEQA review, this project was deemed a Categorical Exclusion on March 20, 2009. Summary of Public Outreach Efforts The City mailed information on the project to 3,600 property owners within the vicinity of the project. Detailed plans were made available for review at City Hall and on the City's website. Residents with questions were encouraged to attend a town hall meeting that was held on November 16, 2010. Fiscal Impact • The total cost of the East 14 Street Striping and Pedestrian Improvements project is $195,093.25, including staff time • The cost of construction is estimated to be $118,255.00 Budget Authority The improvements will be funded using Development Fee for Street Improvements (DFSI) appropriated in CIP Account Nos. 120 -38 -244 and 120-38-282, Tracy Vese y, Finance D r ctor Attachments Bid Summary
