Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association
Page 10
Conclusions:
The Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association is the largest operator of certified farmers' markets in the state of
Califomia. But while the Board of Directors and staff of PCFMA are justifiably proud of that fact, they are more
proud of the organization's record of success in individual communities all around the Bay Area such as the
success of the first three seasons of the Downtown San Leandro Farmers' Market. Each community in which
PCFMA is present, each farmers' market that PCFMA operates is important and unique. Only by working in
partnership with local community representatives can a farmers' market become an integral part of the community
— successful for California farmers and local shoppers.
The first three years of operation of the Downtown San Leandro Farmers' Market have begun this process of
developing the farmers' market as an essential community resource, and as an important community gathering
space. PCFMA looks forward to the opportunity to continue to partner with the City of San Leandro and the San
Leandro community to further develop the Downtown San Leandro Farmers' Market and support it to achieve its
•
full potential — as a vibrant marketplace for California farmers and as a point of pride for all of the citizens of San
Leandro.
