City and San Leandro Unified School District Liaison Committee <br /> January 12, 2011 <br /> Page 5 <br /> Julie Tarasl, Girls, Inc., distributed a handout (attached) regarding the Advocating Change <br /> Together (ACT) School Wellness Policy Recommendations 2010 -2011. She asked if Girls, <br /> Inc. could give a presentation to the School Board or this Committee regarding nutrition <br /> and exercise in the schools. She added that this would also encourage youth to discuss <br /> school safety, as well. <br /> 8. Committee Comments <br /> Board Member Almonte thanks the leadership for getting the two bodies together. <br /> Board President Mack -Rose commented that there are great opportunities for the City and <br /> District to work together. <br /> Councilmember Gregory stated that he spoke with Girls, Inc. last week regarding its <br /> nutrition program. He also stated that if the Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) <br /> ever vacates its offices in City Hall, it may be an opportunity for the District move into <br /> City Hall to promote a closer relationship with the City. <br /> Board Chair Katz - Lacabe thanked everyone for attending and commented that it will be a <br /> great year ahead working together. <br /> Mayor Cassidy noted his visit to SLHS and how much he enjoyed it and will visit more in <br /> the future. He mentioned his desire to create an education conference in May or June and <br /> suggested a Saturday with many stakeholders. <br /> 9.
