He reminded the Board that as they begin the selection process <br /> for Measure M architect firms, Mr. Yun has been part of the San <br /> Leandro Sports Foundation's vision for the past two years. <br /> 10. COMMITTEE COMMENTS <br /> • Councilmember Gregory supported the 50/50 split for the crossing guard <br /> program. He commented that representatives from the California State <br /> Automobile Association (AAA) were scheduled to speak to the Safe Routes <br /> to Schools group, suggesting that they might be an adjunctive asset to <br /> the program by suggesting some areas for cost - savings. <br /> • Board President Mack -Rose commented that a couple of years ago the <br /> City and District entered into a solid waste contract with ACI that <br /> provided free garbage pick -up to District schools located in their pickup <br /> area, as well as enabling the District to implementa green waste <br /> program. She requested that an update on the success of the program <br /> be provided at a future meeting. <br /> During the discussion that ensued, Board chair, Katz - Lacabe indicated <br /> that a while ago, the District heard a presentation regarding <br /> biodegradable materials such as utensils, noting that it could be very <br /> costly. Mayor Cassidy indicated that this topic would be on the City's <br /> May work session agenda. <br /> • Mayor Cassidy commented that he recently met with officials from the <br /> Rental Housing Association encouraging them to meet with the District, <br /> begin the conversation and exchange ideas to avoid any <br /> misunderstandings later regarding the school district placing a parcel tax <br /> on the ballot in 2012. <br /> 11.
