SAN LEANDRO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Proposed Formation of Measure M Conceptual Design Teams
Purpose: The purposes of each Conceptual Design Team is to identify programmatic and facility needs within
the physical and budget constraints of Measure M. The Conceptual Design Teams will conceptualize the broad
brush strokes of a design that will be refined by the Technical Support Team. The Conceptual Design Teams'
do not make final design decisions; but offer valuable input and feedback to the architects during the
conceptual design phase, which is approximately a third of the complete design process. This is when
ideas and feedback can be most readily and efficiently analyzed and incorporated into architectural
drawings. (The remaining two thirds of the design process is divided between the design development
and construction document phases.)
Currently, we are accepting applications to the following Conceptual Design Teams:
1) SLUSD Sports Complex and Burrell Field
2) San Leandro High School Swim Center
Composition: Below is a table of the proposed composition of each Conceptual Design Team. Each team may
have up to the number indicated, per category. If desired, and they are selected, individuals may serve on both
committees. Each Conceptual Design Team meeting will have a minimum of two technical team members to
answer questions and discuss issues.
SLUSD Sports Complex' San Leandro High School
& Burrell Field Swim Center
District Staff Liaisons: District Staff Liaison
Cindy Cathev / Song Chin- Bendib/Mike Murphy Cindy Cathey / Song Chin - Bendib /Mike Murphy
Representation Number Representation Number
Administrators up to 2 Administrators up to 2
Teachers / Coaches up to 6 Teachers / Other Certificated up to 6
Custodian / CSEA / Building Trades up to 4 Custodian / CSEA / Building Trades up to 4
Parents up to 3 Parents up to 3
Students (8th -11 grade) up to 5 Students (8th -I 1 grade) up to 5
Community Members/Non- Profits/ up to 6 Community Members/Non- Profits/ up to 6
Business Business
Skilled in: Skilled in:
• Sports/Health • Sports/Health
• Technology • Technology
• Environmental • Environmental
• Construction • Construction
• Architecture • Architecture
• Other • Other
City of San Leandro up to 3 City of San Leandro up to 3
staff, nominated by City staff, nominated by City
Community Outreach: The Design Teams application will available on February 16, 2011, and will be
advertised on the website, in press releases, on flyers at all sites, and via auto dialer.
