General Plan Amendments 10 March 21, 201 I <br /> other downtown and TOD developments in Hayward. Mountain View, Redwood City and San <br /> Mateo. A Developer Symposium was held to elicit feedback from residential and commercial <br /> developers on Strategy components. San Leandro staff and consultants also participated in the <br /> ULI /MTC sponsored TOD Marketplace to gain further insight from the development <br /> community. <br /> Three very successful Community Meetings were held during the 17 -month process. Meetings <br /> were held in June and September 2006 and March 2007 with an overall attendance of 240 area <br /> residents. Representatives from AC Transit, BART. MTC and AI3AG attended the Community <br /> Meetings during the Open 1-louse portion of the meeting to provide information to the public. <br /> Spanish translation and child care were made available and publicized, thereby increasing <br /> attendance. <br /> Some of the themes discussed at the Community Meetings were: pedestrian improvements in the <br /> downtown to make it less auto - oriented; more family- oriented downtown, attracting and growing <br /> unique retail businesses downtown, improve safety and security, more public open space, <br /> opening the creek to community access in the downtown area, highlight historic resources, better <br /> physical publication of transit information, and other public transit improvements to improve <br /> community use of transit. There was overall support of transit- oriented development in the study <br /> area. <br /> The CAC, at their 10 and final meeting in May 2007, provided final direction on a <br /> recommended Public Draft TOD Strategy. During May, June. July and August. San Leandro <br /> staff and CAC members gave presentations of the TOD Strategy to the following civic and <br /> homeowner associations: Planning Commission. Board of Zoning Adjustments, Senior <br /> Commission. Recreation and Parks Commission. City and San Leandro Unified School District <br /> Liaison Committee. Library - Historical Commission. Broadmoor Neighborhood Association, <br /> Best Manor Homeowners Association, I- lalcvon- Foothill Homeowners Association. Downtown <br /> Business Association. Chamber of Commerce. Alameda County Climate Protection Project and <br /> an East Bay Community Fund sponsored mobile workshop. <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> There are no direct costs associated with this action. <br /> Budget Authority <br /> Not applicable <br /> Attachments: <br /> 1.
