Dog Walking Park <br /> P &S and Call for Bids 2 March 21, 2011 <br /> Previous City Council Action(s1 <br /> • On June 1, 2009 by Resolution No. 2009 -070, the City Council allocated $50,000 of Park <br /> Development Fees for the construction of the Dog Walking Park as part of 2009 -2010 budget <br /> • On June 7, 2010 by Resolution 2010 -060 the City Council allocated an additional $312,000 <br /> of Park Development Fees for the construction of the Dog Walking Park as part of the 2010- <br /> 2011 budget <br /> City Council Committee Review and Action <br /> The project has been presented to the Recreation and Parks Commission, the Council Facilities <br /> and Transportation Committee and the Four Paws community. <br /> • January 2011 and February 2011, Project designs were presented to the Council Facilities <br /> Committee <br /> • January 2009, Conceptual Dog Park plan goes to Facilities Committee <br /> Applicable General Plan Policy <br /> Project complies with General Plan Goal 22.03 regarding the Development of New Parks. The <br /> proposed project will provide recreational opportunities to a user group (dog owners) that is <br /> currently underserved with the existing park and recreational facilities, none which have off - <br /> leash areas for dogs. <br /> Permits and /or Variances Granted <br /> An amendment to the existing Bay Trail permit with Bay Conservation and Development <br /> Commission (BCDC) was obtained to allow for the construction of the park. <br /> Environmental Review <br /> A CEQA Negative Declaration for this project was filed with Alameda County on July 23, 2010. <br /> Code Compliance Review <br /> Work shall comply with all applicable building codes. The pre- fabricated shade structure <br /> manufacturer will submit documents for a City building permit. <br /> Board /Commission Findings <br /> • December 2009, Recreation and Park Commission (RAPC) submitted recommendations to <br /> the City Council to use part of the Measure WW grant funds and Park Development Fee <br /> (PDF) funds to fund the dog park project <br /> • September 2009, City Council directed RAPC to determine the best use of WW and PDF <br /> funds, by including public input <br /> • October 2008, RAPC sent a letter to City Council with its findings <br />
