IN TI-IE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -079 <br /> RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING MATCHING FUNDS TOWARDS A 2011 -12 BICYCLE <br /> TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT (BTA) GRANT PROJECT <br /> Recitals <br /> WHEREAS, the Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) is an annual program that <br /> provides state funds for city and county projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle <br /> commuters. To be eligible for BTA funds, a city or county must prepare and adopt a Bicycle <br /> Transportation Plan (BTP); and <br /> WHEREAS, to be eligible for BTA funds, a city or county must prepare and adopt a <br /> Bicycle Transportation Plan (BTP); and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council appointed a sixteen- member citizen -based committee <br /> (Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee) to guide the development of the 2010 Bicycle and <br /> Pedestrian Master Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, Caltrans anticipates an appropriation of $7.2 million annually for projects <br /> that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters; and <br /> WHEREAS, staff submitted a grant application for 2011 -12 BTA funds to implement and <br /> complete the bicycle networks in support of our Priority Development Areas by placing Class 11 <br /> bike lanes and Class 111 bike routes in selected locations; and <br /> WHEREAS, if selected, City of San Leandro's proposed project will be matched by <br /> funds from the City in the amount of $55,600 toward the total project cost of $556,600. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does hereby <br /> appropriate the $55,600 matching funds from the Measure B Bicycle and Pedestrian fund for the <br /> 2011 -12 BTA Grant project. <br /> Introduced by Councilmember Cutter and passed and adopted this 18th day of April, <br /> 2011, by the following called vote: <br />
