6. Committee Member Comments
Bob Braga from Caltrans reported that the 2013 Golden Guardian exercise will be held in
Alameda County once again, and it would be a good opportunity for agencies to participate
in this large -scale exercise. Staff will follow the planning of the 2013 event and bring
recommendations to the Disaster Council.
Ana -Marie Jones from CARD shared perspectives on non -profit preparedness tools, how her
agency is working with non - profit organizations to be prepared to assist their clients
following a disaster, and what simple tools there are available to the general community for
preparedness.
Staff was asked what information the City has available to the community. Kathy Ornelas
reported there is a good deal of information, as well as links to other information resources,
on the City's website (http: / /www.sanleandro.org/ services /emergency /default.asp) and that
the Customer Services pages of the white pages of the telephone book also contain
comprehensive preparedness and safety information.
7. Public Comments
Jennifer Heystek commented on the value of the information shared at the meeting and the
possibility of relying on other community resources following a disaster. In her case, she is a
licensed midwife and would offer any services she could.
Christine Gibney commented that she is an employee of Peterson Power in the portable
generator operations, and that the information discussed at the meeting is valuable.
S. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
3
