Deputy City Manager Diaz stated that she will work with <br /> representatives of both Districts to coordinate the Forum (i.e., Superintendent Cindy Cathy, <br /> SLUSD; Dr. Byas and Board Trustee Isabel Polvorosa, SLzSD). <br /> 4. Update on SLzUSD Solar Program <br /> Dr. Shira stated that the School Board selected Chevron as the contractor for the Solar <br /> Parking Program that is currently underway at parking stnictures at various locations. He <br /> circulated a postcard with a visual example of the project. He stated that the overall cost for <br /> the project is $6 million with $1 million being from California Solar Initiative Funding. He <br /> also stated that because of the program, the District's utility rates will eventually drop 50 <br /> percent. <br /> 5. Discussion Regarding Joint City Council and SLzUSD Meeting <br /> Mayor Cassidy stated that the target month for a Joint City Council and SLzUSD Meeting <br /> could be in September 2011. Deputy City Manager Diaz stated that she will check with the <br /> City Clerk and will work with District staff on setting a date for the joint meeting. A <br /> discussion ensued on possible agenda items for the joint meeting. <br /> 6. Discussion Regarding City and SLzUSD Liaison Committee Meeting_Days and Times <br /> Deputy City Manager Diaz suggested a regular scheduled meeting every other month. All <br /> concurred. Councilmember Souza suggested the next meeting be at a SLzUSD facility. Ms. <br /> Diaz stated she would coordinate the next meeting. Mayor Cassidy asked the District to alert <br /> the City of any and all District events. <br /> 7. Public Comments <br /> Mr. Bob Leigh, representing Washington Manor Homeowners Association (WHOA), <br /> commented on the landscaping for the Corvallis Elementary School and Washington Manor <br /> Middle School parking lots and suggested low growing hedges to dress up both sites. A <br /> discussion ensued on the possibility of an EBMUD Green Landscaping Project. <br /> 8. Committee Comments <br /> Councilmember Starosciak inquired how many crossing guards are currently at Corvallis <br /> School. Dr. Shira stated that there is currently one crossing guard at the school. <br /> Councilmember Starosciak gave a state budget update on the LOCC Legislative Action Days <br /> in Sacramento, in which she attended. She also announced the concept Strong Cities Strong <br /> State, which is intended to communicate that we cannot have a strong state or nation without <br /> strong cities. <br /> Councilmember Souza gave her thanks to the District for its continued annual support and <br /> outreach on its marquees to promote no fireworks July 4` She also wanted to notify the <br />
