Hollister, City Manager <br />BY: Tracy Vesely, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Council Member & Mayor Budgets <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />At the request of the Mayor, staff has compiled this information memo outlining the <br />personnel and non - personnel budgets for council offices, possible areas for budget <br />savings, and options regarding city council contributions to CalPERS retirement. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Mayor /Council Member Budaets <br />Below are the annual base salaries for mayor and council members. Benefit costs will <br />vary due to different personal elections, such as medical /dental opt -out, CalPERS opt <br />out, and medical plan size. <br />Base Salary <br />Mayor 34,743 <br />Council Member 16.122 <br />The annual non - personnel budget for mayor and council offices is as follows: <br />Training/ <br />Techno Tr avel Supp <br />Mayo r /Councilmember <br />Total <br />6,187 <br />Based on year -to -date spending, staff anticipates enough savings in the combined <br />Mayor and Council Member non - personnel budget in FY 2010 -11 to allocate $10,000 <br />toward Eden I &R, the Alameda County 2 -1 -1 System. This will be recommended to City <br />Council on June 6, 2011. In addition, staff will further review Council office budgets to <br />determine if future savings are possible.
