• • • CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL AIRPORT COMMITTEE JOINT MEETING WITH PORT OF OAKLAND AVIATION COMMITTEE July 24, 2006 12:30 p.m. — 1:30 p.m. Port of Oakland 530 Water Street Oakland, California Port Board Room HIGHLIGHTS Committee Members: Councilmember Badger and Councilmember Santos City staff present: City Manager John Jermanis and Community Relations Representative Kathy Ornelas Port of Oakland Members: Commissioners Frank Kiang, David Kramer and Darlene Ayers - Johnson; Director of Aviation Steve Grossman, plus numerous Port staff Public present: None The meeting was called to order at 12:45 p.m. by Port Committee Chair Ayers - Johnson (Written comments from Port staff on the following agenda items are attached.) 1. Runway 27L Instrument Landing System Project Status Port staff reported that the FAA has established a schedule for the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the project to install an instrument landing system on runway 27 -Left. The FAA's engineering design contractor has completed the project design work. The FAA's project manager will be sending EA scoping letters to local agencies and interested 'parties shortly. The project schedule the FAA had initially drafted has slipped somewhat. The schedule in the attached information from the Port shows release of a drafted EA for 30- day review occurring in September followed by a public meeting on the EA. Those will now likely take place in late fall or winter. Port staff had mentioned the FAA had met with Planning staff from the City of Alameda and Councilmember Santos wondered about this. Port staff replied that some of the equipment will need to be installed on airport property within the City of Alameda and may require City of Alameda permits.
